I am past president of the Sierra Community Chorus (now the Placer Pops Chorale) in which I sang for 15 years (1996-2011), though I am no longer a member of any Sacramento-area chorus. I've sung in choruses all my life, and now, in retirement, I'm trying to make a contribution to the choral music scene in the greater Sacramento area, helping choruses become more aware of each other's activities and stimulating public awareness and support of this art form.
I started the Placer Performance Calendar in September of 2009 to cover all performing arts events in South Placer County and Folsom, and I introduced the Sacramento Choral Calendar in September of 2011.
These activities stem from a conviction that there is much excellence in the local performing arts scene, excellence that is largely unappreciated because most local performing groups have very limited resources to devote to publicity. My hope is that centralized, efficient, free sources of information may eventually stimulate wider support of local performing arts.
